Why we built this

We started selling pre-owned e-readers in 2018, and the same question kept coming up: which one should I get? Most answers online were spec sheets written by people who had never held the device.

So we wrote our own. Every review here comes from time spent with the actual hardware — including the old, discontinued and slightly awkward ones that nobody else bothers with.

It also does not change what we recommend. If the right answer for you is a seven-year-old Paperwhite for forty dollars instead of the newest model, that is what we will tell you.
