About Easy Ereader

Easy Ereader is a father and son who could not stop buying e-readers.

We are Sebastian and Musaline. We have been buying, refurbishing and reselling pre-owned e-readers since 2018 — which started, as these things do, with fixing up a couple of devices we already owned and discovering there were people who wanted them.

That is still the engine of this site. Everything we write about here is hardware we have actually had in our hands: opened, charged, tested, sometimes repaired, usually sold on to someone. It is a slower way to build a review site than reading spec sheets, and it means we are often late to the newest release. It also means that when we say a battery will disappoint you in three years, it is because we have watched it happen.

Why the site exists

The same question kept arriving with every sale: which one should I get?

The honest answer is almost never “the newest one”. It depends on where your books come from, whether you borrow from a library, whether you read in the bath, whether you need buttons because you read one-handed at two in the morning. Nobody was writing that down. The guides we found were spec comparisons written by people who had clearly never lived with the device for a fortnight.

So we started writing our own. There are now well over a hundred reviews here, weighted deliberately towards the devices nobody else bothers with — discontinued Sonys, old Kindles, PocketBooks, and the Tolino range that dominates German-speaking Europe and barely gets covered in English at all.

How we work

We buy the hardware. We do not accept free devices in exchange for coverage, and we have never taken payment from a manufacturer for a review or a ranking.

We say when we have not tested something. If a device is missing from a roundup, it is usually because we have not used it yet, and we would rather leave the gap than rank something from a press release.

We earn a commission when you buy through our links, from Amazon or eBay, at no extra cost to you. It does not affect what we recommend — which is easy enough to verify, given how much of this site points at second-hand listings that pay us almost nothing.
