One of the greatest benefits of the Kindle Paperwhite have been it’s long-lasting battery life. It’s one main selling point was that it has a durable battery.
The purpose of this blog post today is to highlight how you can maximize your battery life to ensure uninterrupted and seamless reading!
The importance of maximizing your battery life cannot be underestimated, it is usually when you have a chunk of time and pull out your PaperWhite to read when you realize the battery is low and you can’t enjoy a fictious escape. This happens far too often when I am waiting for the wife outside the grocery store for a good three hours!
Screen Brightness & Caveats
If you are like me, then you probably read in the office or the kitchen after a meal with the screen brightness on max. Or you read outside with the brightness high even when the sun is out. This should be changed.
The built-in light for the PaperWhite uses a large amount of energy. The higher the brightness the faster the battery will drain.
Based on the lightning conditions where you have chosen to sit down and read, one should change it accordingly. If inside a well-lit area, a hugely bright screen is not neccessary. When outside as well, sunlight is ample enough usually to read effectively.
Wi-Fi Setting Optimization
If you are like me, then you probably leave your Kindle connected to Wi-Fi all the time, even when you are not actively using it to download books or access the Kindle Store. Or you might keep it connected while you are reading, thinking it’s necessary for page turns or other functions. Doing this is bad for your battery life.
A constant Wi-Fi connection on your Kindle Paperwhite uses a significant amount of energy. The more time Wi-Fi is on, the faster the battery will drain. Based on your reading habits and needs, you should adjust your Wi-Fi settings accordingly. If you are not actively downloading or accessing online content, turning off Wi-Fi can significantly extend your Kindle’s battery life. Even when reading, Wi-Fi is not necessary for basic functions, so consider turning it off to conserve power.
